Enjoy the outdoors this winter

What's on in Essex this November?
Bonfire night’s approach has got us in a bobble hat sort of mood. We’re craving the joys of hands wrapped round mugs of hot chocolate, staring up at clear night skies and being the one who always dribbles ketchup down their front, no matter how carefully you eat that hotdog.
If you’re feeling it too, check out what Essex has to offer out and about this winter. It's time to dig out those woolly socks and grab your gloves!
Stargazing at Abberton Reservoir
Join our friends at Essex Wildlife Trust and the North Essex Astronomical Society on Saturday 16th November 2019 and go stargazing. This is a fantastic opportunity to get away from the city, gaze through one of their huge telescopes and listen to an interesting chat on astronomy. Tickets are just £6 per adult and £4 per child - Abberton is a mere stones throw from the hotel.
Christmas Wreath Workshop
Get crafty and Christmassy making a beautiful wreath to hang on your front door and enjoy a mince pie or two whilst making your festive masterpiece. The event takes place on Saturday 30th November from 14:00 - 16:30 in the enchanting Hatfield Forest. Tickets are £55 per adult with all materials included. Why not make a day of it and have a stomp around this ancient parkland?
The seaside town of Harwich will be lit up for the Illuminate Festival on Friday 29th and Saturday 30th November, with more light-based art set to dazzle. This year's festival promises to be bigger and better than ever, with a torch-lit procession representing Captain Jones and his ship, part of the international launch event marking the start of the Mayflower 400 year.
